Life Cycle Assessment — Life Cycle Impact Assessment
The AimThe purpose of Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) is to assess a system's Life Cycle Inventry results with the aim of improving understanding with regard to their potential environmental significance. LCIA specifically uses impact categories and associated indicators to simply LCI results with regard to one or more environmental issues. Examples of environmental issues include, amongst others, global warming potential (GWP), acidification and ozone depletion potential (ODP). A set of indicator results for different impact categories represents the LCIA profile for the system concerned. Figure 9 shows the framework for LCIA as laid down in the committee draft document ISO 14042:33. There may be changes before the final ISO 14042 standard is released. .
